Merry Christmas!

Below are a few pictures from the Sunday School Christmas programs held on December 21. Parents are asked to sign up for photo CDs of the program at the next two Sunday services (Dec. 27 and Jan. 4) with a free-will offering to go to the Sunday School programs. The CDs will have over 80 high-resolution, professional-quality photos for families to enjoy.

By the first Sunday in January, CDs that will include dozens of photos from the program will be available for families. A sign-up sheet will be placed out at the Dec. 28 service.

Once the Sunday church service was over, the nine youth from Trinity Lutheran Church gathered for a group photo. Pastor Kaden and the adult chaperones somehow managed to avoid being in the photo!

It was a great weekend for the nine youth attending the Junior High gathering in Willmar on November 22-23.

One of the main messages shared with the youth was the concept of being a "Welcomer" to God's love. According to one of the speakers, a "Welcomer" is defined this way: a person who builds people up, who fills needs, who prays for others; this type of person is an active listener and asks questions during a conversation, they're not distracted and they show empathy.

More simply put, a "Welcomer" asks how another person is doing and actually means it!

Community Thanksgiving

Volunteers were ready to serve today at Trinity Lutheran Church.

On the coldest Thanksgiving in 29 years, volunteers lined up enough food for 200 people at today's B-B-E Community Thanksgiving dinner at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Southwest Minnesota Synod Youth Gathering

We'll be blogging from the youth gathering in Willmar tonight and Sunday! A group of nine youth, Pastor Kaden and three adult chaperones are taking in the evening and many events, music and speakers.

Community Thanksgiving dinner

Be sure to spread the word about the Community Thanksgiving dinner that will be held on Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten.

They always have a surplus of food!!! So feel free to come by and bring a neighbor or too while you're at it.

Youth bowling

The youth group will go bowling in Brooten at 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 15 instead of having a hay ride. They should be done bowling by 6 p.m.

Brooten area gets dumped on

Here's the view outside church on Tuesday morning, before the Brooten city workers took all the plowed snow off of the streets around town.

Over 15 inches of snow fell over the Brooten area and on Trinity Lutheran and West Lake Johanna churches on Monday and Tuesday, November 10-11 this week. It had many roads all but shut down on Monday evening.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported in our immediate area.
